It's a standard hard headband with a fabric cover. If hard headbands usually press behind your ears, wear it a little further back or for shorter stretches.

Will it slip on fine hair?

Fine, freshly washed hair can be slippery. A little dry shampoo or texture spray at the roots helps it grip.
